The Crossing Lab, a metaverse social platform company, signed a memorandum of understanding with the Busan Museum of Art covering research, development and the activation of operations for a metaverse museum. The agreement was signed by The Crossing Lab CEO Shin Ji-ho and museum director Seo Jin-seok.

The two sides agreed to combine The Crossing Lab's metaverse technology capabilities with the artistic value held by the museum. The stated goal is to raise the potential of the metaverse through a multi-channel strategy and produce results on a global scale. For the museum, the tie-up is expected to broaden the exhibition-viewing experience and open new opportunities for sustained growth in the global art market.

Shin said the agreement goes beyond a simple partnership, describing it as an attempt to create new cultural experiences through the convergence of the metaverse industry and the art field. He also set out an intent to lead qualitative growth for art and culture within the metaverse.

SuperPlat, the platform the company is developing, is a metaverse social live service offering virtual spaces close to reality. It recognizes motion capture using only a webcam, with no separate equipment required, letting users move their avatars and lowering the barrier to entry for the metaverse. The service starts with a closed beta in April and shifts to an official open beta in September, with continued updates including casual games planned afterward.
